Finalists:

  • Alex Changler for Devour

  • Charles Kell for Kafka Pill Black

  • Jennifer Martelli for By August

  • Susan Sanders for The Forgiving Zone

  • S. Stephanie for Letters and White Paint

  • James Wyshynski for Visiting Hours

The following poets deserve honorable mention: Anne Bucey for A Shade Pulled Just Barely, Lynn Pledger for Glimpse, Chris Reed for Drinking Up North, Bradley Samore for Losing the Contest, Alexandra Risley Schroeder for A Sea-Through Box, and Elizabeth Weiss for The Anna Fragments.

We thank everyone who participated for their considerable time, work, and heart in preparing and submitting a manuscript. The selection process was difficult; we received many excellent manuscripts representing a broad spectrum of poetic styles and concerns, and each one was carefully considered. Our selection process was completely blind.

What drew us to this manuscript was the wonderful joy and play in it yoked both to quirky, gorgeous imagery and a thoughtful consideration of nature's sentience and time's flow.
